Hyundai’s 2024 global total was company-reported, with an important measurement distinction: Korea uses retail sales, while overseas sales use wholesale figures. The annual total was 4,141,791 vehicles, down 1.8% from 2023.

Geography or period Vehicles sold Measurement note
Worldwide, 2024 4,141,791 Korea retail; overseas wholesale
Outside Korea, 2024 3,436,781 Wholesale-based
South Korea, 2024 705,010 Retail-based
Worldwide, December 2024 330,059 Preliminary and unaudited monthly result

Outside Korea, sales declined 0.5% from 2023, while Korean sales fell 7.5% from 762,077 vehicles in 2023. December sales included 268,736 vehicles outside Korea and 61,323 in Korea; both monthly figures were preliminary, and the overseas measure was wholesale-based.

Hyundai’s stated 2025 target was 4,174,000 vehicles worldwide. This is a forward-looking company target, not an observed result, so it should be read separately from the 2024 sales total.

Hyundai Financial Performance and Investment Data

Hyundai Motor’s 2024 consolidated financial results were preliminary and unaudited under K-IFRS. Revenue increased 7.7% year over year, while operating profit declined 5.9%.

2024 consolidated measure Result Change or definition
Revenue KRW 175.2312 trillion Up 7.7% year over year
Operating profit KRW 14.2396 trillion Down 5.9% year over year
Operating-profit margin 8.1% Company-reported K-IFRS margin
Net profit KRW 13.2299 trillion Up 7.8%; includes non-controlling interest
Q4 vehicle sales 1,066,239 Wholesale; preliminary
Q4 revenue KRW 46.6237 trillion Preliminary K-IFRS result

The results combine a higher annual revenue figure with lower operating profit, while net profit rose. Q4 2024 revenue was KRW 46.6237 trillion, alongside 1,066,239 wholesale vehicle sales worldwide.

For 2025, Hyundai forecast total investment of KRW 16.9 trillion, including KRW 8.6 trillion of capital expenditure. These are company guidance figures and represent planned investment rather than realized spending.

Hyundai Electrified Vehicle Sales Statistics

Hyundai reported 757,191 electrified-model sales worldwide in 2024, an 8.9% increase from 2023. Hyundai’s category includes electrified models and commercial vehicles as defined by the company, so it is broader than battery-electric vehicles alone.

Electrified category 2024 worldwide sales Q4 2024 sales
Electrified models 757,191 209,641
Battery-electric vehicles 218,500 53,035
Hybrid vehicles 496,780 145,732

Q4 electrified-vehicle sales grew 21% year over year. The quarterly totals include the company’s stated category definitions, including commercial vehicles where applicable.

Hyundai’s 2025 plan targeted global sales above 4.17 million vehicles while emphasizing hybrids and battery-electric vehicles. That combined target and product-mix emphasis is a forecast and strategic plan, not a measured 2025 outcome.

Hyundai India reported the Creta Electric with a claimed range of up to 473 km during FY 2024–25 launch information. This is a manufacturer-stated range; test-cycle and real-world results may differ.

Hyundai India Production, Sales and Export Data

Hyundai Motor India’s figures use a fiscal year ending March 31 and describe the Indian subsidiary, not the parent company’s calendar-year global reporting. Production was 762,000 vehicles in FY 2024–25, compared with 787,000 in FY 2023–24; the reported difference is 25,000 vehicles based on rounded narrative figures.

Hyundai India measure FY 2024–25 FY 2023–24
Production 762,000 vehicles 787,000 vehicles
Domestic sales 598,666 vehicles —
Exports 163,386 vehicles 163,155 vehicles

Source: Hyundai Motor India Limited | Annual Report 2024-25.

SUVs represented 69% of Hyundai India’s domestic sales in FY 2024–25. The annual report also recorded cumulative milestones of more than 2.5 million SUV sales and more than 1.5 million Creta sales since inception, covering India domestic sales plus exports rather than a single year.

Hyundai Motor India consolidated revenue from operations was INR 691,928.88 million in FY 2024–25. This is the audited annual-report figure for the Indian subsidiary and is not directly interchangeable with Hyundai Motor Company’s consolidated KRW reporting.

Hyundai Fuel Economy and Vehicle-Technology Statistics

The EPA’s model-year 2024 manufacturer data estimated Hyundai’s U.S. new-vehicle fleet at 29.8 miles per gallon of real-world fuel economy. The measure is an EPA estimate for the fleet, not a laboratory label value for every Hyundai vehicle.

EPA Hyundai fleet measure 2019 2024
Estimated real-world fuel economy 28.5 mpg 29.8 mpg
Excluding BEVs and PHEVs 27.9 mpg 28.2 mpg

Source: The 2025 EPA Automotive Trends Report: Fuel Economy, and Technology since 1975.

Excluding battery-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, the estimated fleet measure was 28.2 mpg in 2024, up from 27.9 mpg in 2019. The EPA series reflects both technology changes and changes in vehicle mix.

For model year 2024, the EPA manufacturer dataset reported these rounded production shares:

  • Turbocharged vehicles represented 28% of production, while GDI vehicles represented 29%.
  • Gasoline-direct-and-port-injection vehicles represented 40% of production.
  • CVTs represented 23% of production, and transmissions with seven or more gears represented 56%.
  • Non-hybrid stop-start technology represented 47% of production.
  • HEVs represented 12%, PHEVs 1% and BEVs 8% of production.

The technology categories can overlap, and the shares are rounded. EPA also notes that small shares may round to 0%; the 1% PHEV share is rounded.

Hyundai Emissions, Energy and Sustainability Data

Hyundai’s sustainability figures below cover calendar year 2023 and the report’s stated operational-control boundaries. Two totals are derived sums of listed factory values rather than separately reported company totals.

2023 measure Reported or derived value Scope
Listed overseas factories, Scope 1 246,209 tCO2e Derived sum
Listed overseas factories, location-based Scope 2 695,459 tCO2e Derived sum
HMMA energy consumption 493,635 MWh Factory-level figure
HMI renewable energy 191,087 MWh Factory-level figure

Hyundai’s Scope 3 categories show how strongly the boundary and method affect interpretation:

  • Purchased goods and services emissions were 23,518,427 tCO2e, covering raw materials for parts used in domestic and overseas vehicle manufacturing.
  • Use-of-sold-products emissions were an estimated 114,132,523 tCO2e for vehicles sold domestically and overseas, based on 200,000 km of mileage and excluding electric and hydrogen vehicles.
  • Downstream transportation and distribution emissions were 981,549 tCO2e for vehicles manufactured in domestic factories, including shipping and land transportation by Hyundai Glovis.
  • End-of-life treatment emissions were an estimated 2,323,327 tCO2e for vehicles sold domestically and overseas.
  • Employee-commuting emissions were an estimated 8,895 tCO2e for domestic operations, covering commuting by buses as defined in the report.
  • Business-travel emissions were an estimated 26,994 tCO2e for employees working at domestic sites, including personal cars, buses, trains and domestic and international flights as defined by the report.

These Scope 3 values are not all measured in the same way: some are reported activity results, while use-of-sold-products, end-of-life treatment, commuting and business travel are estimates under the report’s methods. The use-of-sold-products estimate explicitly excludes electric and hydrogen vehicles, so it should not be treated as Hyundai’s complete lifecycle emissions for every powertrain.
